Our Standard Dryer and Exhaust Vent Cleaning Process
- Prior to cleaning the dryer vent, Potomac Services will inspect the vent and obtain an air flow meter reading from the exterior of the home.
- We will then clean the outside of the dryer vent exhaust using high pressure air and rotary tools.
- After the initial cleaning, we will obtain a second air flow meter.
- Next we will clean the inside flexible exhaust vent and obtain an air flow meter reading from the dryer.
- And finally, we will compare the air flow meter readings. If the vents has been properly cleaned, the reading should be a pressure drop that should not exceed 20% based on the length of the vent. If the pressure drop is greater than 20%, we will clean the vent again from both the outside and inside until the obstruction is removed.
Note: This is the process for a typical dryer vent cleaning. Dryer vents that vent to roofs, are located above the second story or are unaccessible for the outside may have different processes. Furthermore, we can not always guarantee an air flow reading for those types of vents.
